ONYIS MARTIN - Series "Talking Walls" - "63 Downtown" - 145cm H x 110cm W - Mixed media on canvas

Bringing together six artists from all over the African continent, these artworks combine ancestral culture and modernism, past and future, to better understand the present time.
Internationally recognized or presented recently in Europe, these artists highlight experimental and plural approaches through a range of forms from fabrics, paper, beads, newspapers, photographs, recycled flip flops, found materials…

They are Nigerian, Kenyan, Congolese, Ghanaian, German but involved with the African culture... Their creations are based on mixed media, papercuts, collage, recycling of found materials… and share the same ambition: to draw the world of today.
The diversity of the works testifies to the plurality of points of view and aesthetics with which we can all identify, beyond the ethnic and personal distances that separate us.

The selected artworks by Sorella Acosta, Director & Curator of OOA Gallery offer us a testimony, a method, an idea of freedom and artistic responsibility.
